Both the Library Association of Singapore’s (LAS) and Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia’s (PPM) roots began in 1955, when the Malayan Library Group (MLG) was formed. Our pioneers strongly advocated the importance of libraries for the public’s continual education and professional training for library staff. Now, we have a network of libraries serving different communities of Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the two associations that have come a long way and still going strong.

In this commemorative publication, it is aspired to share both associations’ past and current Presidents recollections of how it was like during their time, from starting off as a new member to becoming President, and finally, leaving some parting words for future members.

It is hoped that that their stories will inspire us as well as draw us closer to our associations as we connect with each other through our journey to rediscover our history.
